Interview

Interview to Walter Krochmal

1. What inspired you to start acting?
It inspired me to be an actor because it is interesting to interpret someone and to perform in the theater, radio, television, video or motion pictures. Even though only a few become famous "stars".
2. How long have you being acting?
I being acting since I was around six in school and church plays where I played secondary rolls. Later on I did high school musical where I figured out I had a passion for it.
3. How did you decide it was Broadway and not TV that you loved doing?
I usually trained more acting on school or college programs. I even got called to be on a TV commercial but I rejected the offer since I felt it was out of my reach. I have always and will always love acting on plays. Its a decision I will never regret.
4. What plays have you done?
I have performed in Chicago, Rock of Ages, Wicked, Wonderland, Lion King, A Tribute to The Beatles, A Little Night Music, etc.
5. What is the one thing that you love the most about your work?
Meeting new people, being able to share with other actors, having to dressed in interesting costumes, getting a leading role and most of all having an audience.
6. Is it hard for you to learn the lines?
No, because once you practice several time and get into the story it is very easy to be the character you must perform.
7. What is one of the hardest characters you had to play?
It is always hard to play characters specially when they are so different from our own personality. It is hard for me to play being a villain or a bad guy, because I mostly do the secondary parts, and when I get a leading role is always one of the bad guys, so the audience dislike me but I enjoyed it anyways.
8. Is it acting on Broadway different than acting on TV?
Yes, totally. On TV you are behind so many cameras while on stage you are directly in front of an audience.

Catching up!

Makeovers

In this video you can see all of the makeovers the girls-models got for this season. Usually girls around the fourth or third episode  get to have a makeover that helps them improve their personality and embraces what they have. The makeovers are chosen by the producers and some expect that know what will help each unique girl look better. Some times the makeovers are not accepted by the girls making them depress and annoying.

Photo Preview

The video you just saw can summarize all of the contestants in the new cycle. Each girl if different and as they said ¨they might not be the pretty girls they usually appear or commercial but maybe high fashion¨. That is true because if you are a ANTM fan you can notice the difference between the girls of the new cycle and the girls from older cycles. The two persons in the video are also discussing each girl and the possibility of them winning and i think that neither of the ones they choose will we, that my personal opinion. I think that Ann has the greatest potential of them all.

Preview -New episode

In the new episode the girls are put in a new challenge: make the COMMERCIAL!! One of the most hated part for the models because it´s easy for them to model ( do a photo shoot ) than to memorize the lines for a commercial. Some of the girls don´t have that ability and they don´t have the charisma and personality you have to bring on set.

Things I learned

When we started the blog I had previously experienced other factors of Web 2.0 like wikis, or social networking. I knew what a blog was but I had never experienced the making of one of them. It all stated when as a group we had to bring up a theme which we decided it will be TV series.
Once we had the theme, we started playing around with the different applications and features, in other words getting familiar with the program. Once this was done we learned not only how to post a new entry but also how to embedded videos, gadgets, hyperlinks and most of all the importance of our followers. The different components we found when using blogger make me realize that if they are all applied correctly then a blog is guaranteed to be successful. Another important factor was teamwork since the work was equally divided into the 5 of us and we all needed to work on our assigned tasks.

What I Learned About Blogging

Viral Biz
Hi everyone! Its time to say goodbye. Our group class blog practice is over.

As a group we had fun coordinating who was doing what for the blog. It took hours of planning to make our blog successful. I learned that to have a blog one needs to be fully dedicated to it.

I'm now able to define words in terms of the internet, for example interactivity, hypertext, and link. The concept of what blogging truly is is now clear to me also. It involves a mixture of knowledge and personal opinion. Every blogger has the possibility to create his/her own identity in the blog.

When ever I read blogs, I also thought to myself, "it must be complicated to create a blog." Now I know its actually the contrary to complicated to create a blog. It takes hours of dedication, as I said above, but with the way technology and the internet have been evolving its pretty simple to set up a blog. With the different features a blog offers (widgets, RSS, linking, design templates, tags...) anyone that has a computer and know how to use it can create a blog.

What I learn!

WHAT I

It has come the time to end this group blog and for the final post I will make a conclusion of all the things I have learn in the past weeks.

The classes started and I had no idea of what it was to work in a blog, I have never create one or even read one, so when the teacher said we were about to create a blog I just ask myself what are blogs for? From that moment and on I stated to realize that blogs are a way of expression, they can be describe as diaries because even if they don’t content the most intimate details of someone, they do contain the interests and ideologies of the creator of the blog. For example: Me and my friends created a blog about TV series because we love them. In this blog we have communicate to the world a little piece of our thoughts.

Besides learning to use a blog I have also learn many interesting facts about the network. For example the reserved right, which means you just can’t take pictures of the network and put them where you like, you have to specify where the pictures come from. Other things I have learned are who to navigate through the network, what is interactivity, what hypertexts are and who to use them.

Navigating through the network is much simpler than I thought so. For instance it usually took me a long time to find an specific thing in the web, but know I learn that using some specific tools like brackets will help me to reduce my search options. I also discover that there is plenty material in the web that can help a person’s life, such as Google maps, Google translator and Google doc among others.

Interactivity and hypertexts are other things I learn with this blog. Interactivity is the potentiality or ability of the devices, (computers) in which the user updates or initiates some kind of actions that generates a response from the system. On the other hand Hypertexts are texts (words -sentences – paragraphs) displayed on a computer with references (hyperlinks) to other texts that the reader can immediately access, usually by clicking the hypertext.

Finally I have learn that all along the web there are plenty of things to discover but we have to be careful because not everything is what it looks like, many things for example can have a bad content or a virus.

Thanks for reading!
I hope you like it!

Interview

INTERVIEW: IVAN CANO OLIVAS

Print Impression: http://www.isad.edu.mx/

Ivan Cano is a professional makeup, hair stylist and Inside designer that know a days works as a professor of ISAD University. He has work in several Mexican TV Series such as "La Pasion" and "Amor Real".

1) How did you begin working in the TV?

I started working on my own hair and makeup local in the city of Chihuahua, Mexico. At first it was hard because there is fierce competition of beauty salons but gradually things got better. I have always been very interested in film and television so when I had the opportunity to work on "Real Love" in 2003 I took it, that's how I started my career in television.

2) In what other productions did you work?

I Work on "Real love" and "The Passion" both produced by Carla Estrada. In both I participate in the hair and makeup artists.

3) What is the hardest part about being a TV series stylist?

The hardest thing is to achieve the perfect synchronization between each scene and the actor. For example, the actor begins the scene with dirt in the upper left cheekbone consequently in the next shot the actor must have the makeup in the exact same place where it was at the beginning of the shoot. Making this perfect synchronization between shots is extremely important.

4) What is the importance of a good hairstyle in a series?

The most important thing about a hairstyle is the congruence with the serie, if for example the serie takes place in the fifteenth century the hair should be used to match the time and place.

5) What are the most common mistakes on TV?

The most frequent errors are given between shoots because as I mentioned before is very difficult for the hair and the makeup to remain intact after 2 hours of work in another scene.

6) What are things you watch in an actress before adding makeup?

Usually I look at the shape and dark areas of the face, the natural brightness, the skin color, the eye size, the shape of the eyebrows, cheekbones, and the proportions of nose, forehead and mouth. With all these data I decide which is the best make up for the actress.

7) What do you consider the best of work on TV?

Personally I think I have learned a lot from working on television, this happens because before adding makeup or combing someones hair you need to know the historic period in which the serie is going to develop, you can also learn a lot by the many different places of the world where th filming is done.

Interview

Interview with Mrs. Ferreiro

She works in a company in El Salvador. Apex BBDO is an advertising company, which works with different companies in El Salvador like for example restaurants, boutiques etc. The company doesn't work only in this areas but also works in advertising for local Channels.

They are in charge of editing adverts and publishing them for many local shows like for example ''Cantando por un sueño''.

1) Briefly describe your role in Apex.
In Apex, basically everything is done in groups. Each group for example is divided into two areas. This areas are the Designers who are the people in charge of designing the adverts (the campaign as a whole) and there is another area that deals with the public, more like public relations. Each groups works with different companies for example Pizza Hut. We are in charged of making the  adverts as well as putting the menu together.

2) How can you relate your job with the topic of Television Series?
We work with a variety of TV shows, most of them local TV shows.  Some examples are Cantando por un Sueño, Bailando Por un Sueño. We also work not only in this but also in designing the logos for one specific channel. For example if Bailando por un Sueño is shown in Channel 13, we design the logo for the Serie but also for the channel.

3) Which methods of advertising does the company uses for Cantando/ Bailando por un Sueño?
We first of all design the logo for the Serie. Secondly we work not only in billboard that are placed in the streets but also we work on a variety of adverts that are designed to be placed in local newspapers and magazines. Moreover, the department of public relations has a specific role that they should maintain contact with local channels for example Canal 4 etc. The main reason for this is that we also create TV commercials to increase awareness of the public.

4) Why do you think Advertising is important for TV series?
In El Salvador, advertising is important first of all as I said before to increase awareness of the public. Many people will not know what the Television Serie is about if this is not being described. This description needs to be clear and simple for people to understand it and at the same time increase popularity. Moreover advertising is important because this shows are carried out with money from sponsorships since there are focused on charity. Therefore advertising is an important factor to address who this companies who sponsor the Serie are.
